The Good Batch @ Damansara Uptown, Petaling Jaya

Had a simple gathering with my Sunway friends so we decided to go to The Good Batch located in Damansara Uptown.

Heard various comments that The Good Batch is crowded on weekends till the extent that there is a line outside of the shop and long waiting time. On a Friday afternoon, we were seated immediately and there were still quite an amount of empty tables. Most of the crowd there were the lunch hour crowd, dressed in office wear.

This area is for the people who would like a quiet read while having their meal, or for the people who love people watching, where they can look outside the window.

Before I came to The Good Batch, I already did my research on it on food blogs, Foursquare and also Instagram. People seem to like Portobello Road and Hangover Mess alot. We ordered and our food came after about 10 to 15 minutes.

Long Black (RM7) - served with mini biscotti. The coffee was alright for a place that is more of a breakfast joint than a cafe!

Portobello Road (RM19.90) - Breaded Portobello mushrooms with wilted spinach and tomatoes topped with perfectly poached eggs and hollandaise sauce on lightly toasted bread.

Perfect for mushroom lovers out there who want to have some in their breakfast. Protein powered with the eggs and mushroom!

Hangover Mess (RM20.90) - Corned beef mixed with pan-fried potatoes and diced capsicums, topped with two sunny side up and drizzled with herb infused Hollandaise.

Tried this and this has to be my favourite. The potatoes are flavourful and savoury along with the corned beef. Maybe that is why there is a hype on social media over this. Will definitely order this on the next visit!

Norwegian (RM20.90) - Smoked salmon, capsicum and onion topped with perfectly poached eggs and lemon Hollandaise sauce with lightly toasted bread.

The "Ang Moh" (RM25.90) - Two softly scrambled organic eggs, streaky beef bacon, grilled chicken sausage, ripened cherry tomatoes, baked portobello mushroom, pan-fried potatoes, dad's baked beans and lightly toasted bread.

Just your ordinary big brekkie, and I feel that the price can be a little lower since it doesn't come with coffee or juice.

The Banana Nutella (RM15.90) - crunchy puff pastry filled with banana and nutella served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!

20 minutes of baking time is needed for this dish and I would say... It was worth the wait! What can go wrong with a banana and nutella combination? Also, the cool ice cream melts in your mouth along with the hot pastry puff, perfection!

The Good Batch also other mains for dinner, salad and small bites. Not forgetting, they have cakes which are sourced from the same supplier as VCR Cafe in Pudu. And I got to say that the cakes are special, yummy and well worth the price!

Besides that, The Good Batch is also a bar where you and your friends can pop by and have a drink or two.

Overall, our brunch experience here was OK, though we kind of feel prices are quite on the steep side.
