The Bee @ Publika, Solaris Dutamas

Last weekend, my nephew, Jia Wei, decided to pick me up for lunch. My sister, Li Wei, wanted to go to Publika, Solaris Dutamas because she has never been there before.. In case you didn't know, Publika is located somewhere in between Sri Hartamas/Mont Kiara (Correct me if I am wrong) and it has been in hype for some time for being an artsy fartsy mall, which is said to be Australian inspired.

In Publika, there is several food joints that are pretty reputable. There is Benjamin Yong's BIG food chain, The Red Beanbag, Fatboy's Burger and so on.. Pretty nice place to chill for breakfast, lunch and dinner and not much of shopping.

Firstly, it was Jia Wei's first time driving out by himself, and thankfully we arrived at Publika in one piece! Walked around the area and finally settled for The Bee! Been wanting to try it since I have heard a lot on the first outlet at Jaya One, but never got myself to..

The Bee has a really nice ambience. It is huge and you can either choose to sit indoors or outdoors.. Browsed their menu and looked at their variety of cakes (dessert, my favourite) before getting ourselves seated. To be honest, they have a very limited choice of cakes... Guess they are famous for The Last Polka ice cream..

According to my cousin, if you visit during night time, there is a live band playing and the lights will be dimmed... Nice place to have a chit chat with your friends and drink some beer!

The waiter gave us the menu, and we looked through it. Not even halfway there yet and a waitress comes up to us to take our order... Brushed her off and said that we weren't ready lol.

I had iced latte... Been hit by the coffee bug in the recent weeks. Have I told you I found out that Coffee Bean's coffee is better than Starbucks? Pricer too.. Anyways, back to my iced latte. It was just okay. At Whisk @ One Utama, I could have my iced latte without the sugar.. It tasted good.. But here, the coffee was not that good..

The wrap came in two pieces with what seem to be Lay's potato chips as sidelines. Verdict: the salmon was not fresh! For an RM15 platter it was just okay okay.. Nothing much to shout out about..

 I had the Bee's signature burger. (RM22.50) ) House-made 100% beef patty, beef bacon, cheese, pickled cucumber, lettuce, tomatoes and house-made aioli on a lightly toasted burger bun and served with fries!! The fries was neither thick nor thin and it was not too burnt.. Perfect! For a burger priced like that and a burger craving I have been wanting to satisfy since forever, I EXPECTED MORE.. Maybe some day I should go try Fatboy's Burger instead. Heh.

If you asked me whether I would come back again, I would someday just go to the Bee to get the Last Polka ice cream everyone's been talking about. Other than that.... Hmm... 3 out of 10 chance of going back?
